fire burning

A firewalk event usually takes place over the course of an evening. A large fire – usually around a cubic metre of hardwood logs – will be lit around 7.30pm. Over the next 2 to 2 ½ hours, as the fire burns at approximately 1200˚ Fahrenheit, the participants will work through various processes which will help them to create a really positive, inspiring vision of what their firewalk symbolises for them, and face the fears and doubts that the prospect of walking on red hot coals may bring up. When the fire has burned down to a large pile of hot coals, they will be raked out into a pathway of around 6-8 feet in length, and participants will choose their own moment to walk barefoot over the fire.
The experience is not just a dramatic feat of courage and commitment, but also an evening of setting positive goals for the future, and letting go of old blocks and fears.

Um.. isn’t it dangerous?

Firewalking is a metaphor for life.  When we step forward to do something we’ve never done before, we run the risk of discomfort, disappointment, or even pain.  When we choose to firewalk, we are acknowledging our own choice to step forward and reach for our dreams, and to accept the risks involved.  The firewalk instructor leading you through the workshop has participated and led dozens of firewalks, with many hundreds of participants, and it is very rare for anyone to experience anything more uncomfortable than an occasional small blister (or ‘fire kiss’).  However, the power of the firewalk lies in the fact that it is an inherently risky activity, and the power of your experience partly hinges on your willingness to take a risk in order to make a change and experience a new reality.  You will therefore be asked to sign a liability waiver form as part of the workshop, and will be taking responsibility for your own choices and wellbeing.  Everyone decides for themselves whether to walk the fire, and when to do so, so be assured that you will not be coerced into doing anything that doesn’t feel right to you, the freedom of choice and the power are all yours!
